Are you looking to give back and make a lasting impact? Bowley International Scout Centre is calling for passionate volunteers to join us in maintaining and improving our beautiful outdoor space.
We need your skills, energy, and enthusiasm to help with essential maintenance tasks that keep our centre safe and welcoming for visitors from around the world. Whether you have a knack for carpentry, gardening, painting, or simply want to lend a hand, we’d love to have you as part of our team.

Meeters and Greeters

We need enthusiastic, friendly individuals, to help check in Groups when they arrive, and send them off with a smile at the end of their stay.

Your role:

  • Greet Groups upon arrival, ensuring they feel welcome and informed.
  • Help with the check-in process, distribute welcome materials, and answer any questions.
  • Ensure smooth departures, saying farewell to our guests as they head home after their stay.
  • Ensure all buildings and the site are secure before you head off home.

Requirements:

  • Friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Able to work in a busy environment.
  • If not already a volunteer in Scouting, you will need to complete a Scouting DBS and complete safety and safeguarding training.

Training and support

  • We’ll spend time with you on a 1:1 basis to make sure you have everything you need to carry out the role. 

Dates & Times:

  • Our most frequent need is for Groups arriving on a Friday and departing on a Sunday but during busy times we may need other days covering.
  • You don’t need to do Friday night and Sunday afternoon on the same weekend, but if you can, great!
  • Arrival times are generally from 6pm, but if you are available earlier, please let us know, as sometimes groups request an earlier arrival. 
  • Departure times are usually 3pm for the both the Lodge and when camping. 
  • When we have bookings in, we will email requests for cover out, with details of arrival and departure times requested by the Group.

We’re on the look out for people with your skills

  • Paid Activity Instructors – these are the people that help us deliver safe adventurous activities to our visitors both during the evenings and weekends as well as during the week. All our instructors are offered sessions as customer book them and you can pick the ones that work around your own schedule.
  • Volunteer Campsite Wardens – Our wardens are our front-of-house team. They look after our visitors to ensure they get the best possible experience.
  • Service Crew – these volunteers are the beating heart of our campsite, they keep the behind-the-scenes running smoothly from fixing and mending, to keeping our site looking amazing!
