500 Club Rules
All the funds raised through our 500 Club will go directly to developing Bowley through capital projects. At the same time it gives our Friends the chance to win a monthly prize of up to £1,250!
- The 500 Club is operated by East Lancashire County Scout Council (registered charity number 521711) and is open to membership by anyone domiciled in the UK provided they are at least 16 years of age.
- Membership of the 500 Club shall be granted upon payment of a membership fee of at least £5 per month. Methods of payment are outlined in Rule 8.
- Members will be allocated a number for each £5 membership fee paid per month, which will serve as a chance in each monthly prize draw.
- Members may hold more than one chance based on the number of £5 membership fees paid. There is a limit of 100 membership fee entries per member per month.
- 50% of all membership fees will be entered into a monthly lucky prize draw with members having one chance to win for every £5 fee they have paid. The remaining 50% of the membership fees will be regarded as a donation to Bowley Scout Campsite (operated by East Lancashire County Scout Council).
- There will be one prize drawn each month.
- Membership fees must be received in advance of each monthly draw and are not returnable.
- Payment of fees must be received by Standing Order or BACS. Cash, cheque or other forms of payment are not accepted.
- All amounts must be in the bank account listed on the registration form by the last day of the month to be entered into the next prize draw.
- Resignation from the 500 Club can be at any time, but this should be notified to the County Office in writing.
- Members must advise any change of address and of any change in bank account details where payment is being made by standing order to our County Office.
- The monthly prize draw will be made the following calendar month and prize payments made by the last working day of the month.
- The monthly prize draw will be made by a member of the Bowley Volunteer team and in the presence of at least 4 people, two of whom must be members of the Bowley Management Team.
- Prize winners will be notified directly and may be announced in County/Bowley communications and social media.
- All membership fees recieved that are not paid out in prizes after deduction of any operating expenses (eg: bank charges) will be used for the future development of Bowley Scout Campsite which will be determined by the Bowley Management Team.
- The Friends of Bowley 500 Club is organised under the provisions of Section 5 of the Lotteries and Amusements Act of 1976 and will be registered with the Hyndburn local authority. It complies with the provisions of Schedule 2 of the Lotteries Regulations 1993.
- In the event of any dispute, the Promoter’s decision will be final.
- It is intended that the first membership fees will be payable in January 2024.
- The promotor of the Bowley 500 Club shall be the County Administrator.
