Trader Gift Cards Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to the purchase, use, and redemption of Bowley International Scout Centre Trader Gift Cards (also called “Trader Credit”). Bowley International Scout Centre is operated by East Lancashire County Scout Council (a registered charity in England and Wales, number 521711), which is the issuer of all Gift Cards. By purchasing or using a Gift Card, you agree to these Terms.
1. Purchase of Gift Cards: Gift Cards (Trader Credit) can be purchased either online via our official website or in person at the Bowley International Scout Centre Trader (the on-site shop, referred to here as the “Trader”). You may load any value from £1 up to £1,000 (inclusive) onto a Gift Card at the time of purchase. Each Gift Card purchase has an “Original Purchase Date”, which is recorded when the card (or electronic code) is issued. Payment for Gift Cards is accepted in GBP (£) only. Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase other gift cards or vouchers.
2. Eligible Use – Where and How to Redeem: Gift Cards are redeemable only for eligible purchases at the Bowley International Scout Centre Trader. This means a Gift Card cannot be used for any payments outside the Trader, including but not limited to site fees, campsite or accommodation fees, bookings, event fees, activities, or any non-Trader charges. Gift Cards must be redeemed in person at the Trader by presenting a valid Gift Card code (the unique redemption code associated with the card). The Trader staff will verify the code at checkout and apply the available Balance (the remaining unused value on the card) toward your purchase of merchandise or other eligible retail items sold in the Trader. Gift Cards cannot be redeemed online, by telephone, or by email, and are not valid for any transactions outside the physical Trader shop at Bowley International Scout Centre.
3. Balance and Partial Use: Gift Cards may be used as full or partial payment for eligible items at the Trader. Multiple transactions are allowed until the Gift Card’s Balance is fully spent or until the card expires (see Section 4 below). If your purchase total exceeds the available Balance on your Gift Card, you must pay the excess amount with another accepted payment method. Any unused balance (“Balance”) will remain on the Gift Card after each purchase, and you can apply it to future eligible Trader purchases under these Terms.
4. Validity Period & Expiry of Balance: Each Gift Card is valid for eighteen (18) months from its Original Purchase Date (the “Validity Period”), unless fully redeemed earlier. The expiry date is calculated as the date exactly 18 months after the Original Purchase Date. After the Validity Period ends, any remaining unused Balance on the Gift Card will expire and no longer be available for use or refund. Expired balances will be treated as a charitable donation to Bowley International Scout Centre (East Lancashire County Scout Council) and will be used to support our charitable activities. No redemption or refund of expired Gift Cards or balances is permitted after the Validity Period has lapsed.
5. Refunds of Unused Balance (within Validity Period): The original purchaser of a Gift Card may request a refund of any remaining unused Balance at any time within the 18-month Validity Period. To request a refund, the purchaser must contact us in writing via email to bookings@bowley.org.uk, using the same email address that was used to purchase the Gift Card, and include the Gift Card code as a reference. For security and verification purposes, refund requests will only be processed when made by the original purchaser from the original purchase email address, and must contain the valid Gift Card code. If a refund is approved, the refundable amount is limited to the Gift Card’s remaining Balance at the time of processing (minus any amounts already spent). Refunds will be issued to the original payment method used for purchase wherever possible (or by an alternative method at our discretion). No refunds will be given after the Gift Card’s Validity Period has expired. Please allow a reasonable processing time for refund requests; we will aim to process approved refunds promptly.
6. Safeguarding Your Gift Card Code: Treat your Gift Card and its redemption code like cash. The Gift Card’s code is unique and can be used by anyone who has it. You are responsible for keeping the Gift Card (and code) safe. East Lancashire County Scout Council is not responsible if a Gift Card or its code is lost, stolen, damaged, or used without your permission. We cannot guarantee replacement or reimbursement for lost or stolen Gift Cards or unauthorized use of a Gift Card’s value. If you believe your Gift Card code has been lost or compromised, contact us as soon as possible; while we are not obligated to reissue the card or refund the Balance to you except as provided in Section 5, we will review situations case by case.
7. Restrictions and Misuse: Gift Cards cannot be exchanged or redeemed for cash, except to the extent required by law or explicitly allowed under these Terms (for example, a refund of remaining balance to the original purchaser per Section 5). Gift Cards are not intended for resale and should not be sold or transferred for value without our permission. East Lancashire County Scout Council reserves the right to refuse to accept, redeem, or honour a Gift Card, or to suspend or cancel a Gift Card, if we suspect any fraud, tampering, unauthorized use, or violation of these Terms. Use of the Gift Card in breach of these Terms may result in the transaction being declined and/or the Gift Card being rendered invalid, without prejudice to any other remedies available to us.
8. No Affect on Statutory Rights: These Gift Card Terms do not affect your statutory rights under applicable consumer protection laws. They are intended to set out your rights and responsibilities in relation to the voluntary gift card program operated by our charity.
9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction: These Terms and any dispute or claim arising from your purchase or use of a Gift Card (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. You and we each agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any disputes or claims that arise out of or in connection with these Terms or the use of Bowley International Scout Centre Gift Cards.
10. Contact Information: If you have any questions or concerns about these Gift Card Terms and Conditions, or need assistance, please contact us at bookings@bowley.org.uk or speak with staff at Bowley International Scout Centre.
These Terms and Conditions are intended to be clear and fair.
By purchasing or using a Bowley International Scout Centre Trader Gift Card, you acknowledge and agree to these Terms.
